NEW DELHI : The assembly of agricultural chief scientists (MACS) of G20 nations on ‘Sustainable Agriculture and Meals System for Wholesome Individuals and Planet’ concluded efficiently at Varanasi, the place discussions was focussed on improvements and technological interventions for agri-food programs transformation, biofortification in meals crops for enhancing dietary worth amongst others.
About 80 delegates from G20 member states; invited visitor international locations, worldwide organizations participated within the assembly.
MACS 2023 unanimously agreed to launch a Millet Initiative – MAHARISHI which was proposed by India for analysis within the discipline of Millets. MAHARISHI stands for Millets And Different Historic Grains Worldwide Analysis Initiative (MAHARISHI).
“Its secretariat might be housed at Indian Institute of Millets Analysis (IIMR), Hyderabad with technical help from ICRISAT, One CGIAR Centres and different Worldwide organisations,” the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare stated in a press release.
The discussions on the three days have been centered on Improvements and Technological Interventions for Agri-Meals Techniques Transformation, Frontiers in Science and Expertise for Reaching Meals Safety and Diet, Biofortification in Meals Crops for Enhancing Dietary Worth, Tropical Seaweed Farming for diet and blue development MAHARISHI amongst different points.
The assembly adopted a chair abstract cum end result doc specializing in a serious space of cooperation in agricultural analysis and improvement for meals safety and diet, digital agriculture, resilient agri-food programs and public-private partnership in agricultural R&D.
On the sidelines of G20 MACS, bilateral conferences have been held with France, United Kingdom, Argentina and Germany for future collaboration in agriculture analysis. The bilateral assembly was additionally held with Meals and Agriculture Group, Rome, Italy.
